Hemant Nav KumarHemant Nav Kumar, Founder/Secretary

Hemant, also known as Nav amongst close circles in his life has been a living inspiration to many. Brought up in Dehradun, in early childhood he grew deep love with nature. While his working tenure in the field of management and training, he identified the deterioration of life and nature in Uttarakhand. He decided to go back and rework to retain the quality of life and environment in his native state. He called it ‘U turn’. Since then U turn has been expanding and effectively working in the areas of education, employment, empowerment and environment. Presently, while keenly involved in meeting the goals of U Turn Foundation, Nav also shows much interest in revival of Himalayan music, restoration of art and promotion of healthy living.


Jaya Laisram KumarJaya L Kumar, President

With an extensive experience of more than a decade in PR & Marketing while working with Jet Airways, Jaya is driven deeply by her concerns for the upliftment of life in the mountain regions. While being currently a Teacher by profession, she effectively handles the job of President of UTF. She is also a founding member of U Turn and has been a driving force behind the evolution of UTF over the years. Other roles that she cherishes are being a mother of two and being a housewife. She takes keen interest in girl child education and environmental issues. Her hobbies include cooking, travelling, music and sports.

Rajeev Joshi has more than two decades of global work experience from Chief Accountant in a leading MNC based at Kuwait to role of CEO in a leading company in Gurugram, India. He completed his schooling from Cambrian Hall, Dehradun and remained a frequent traveller to doon valley while working overseas. On these visits he regularly volunteered with UTF for Preserve Green Doon drive. When he decided to take a u turn towards Dehradun to utilise his skills for benefiting his Uttarakhand community, UTF was his choice. He strongly believes that livelihood enhancement would play an important role in socio-economic development of Uttarakhand.


Chander Mohan BijalwanChander M Bijalwan, Joint Secretary

Chander is part of UTF since its inception and has played an instrumental role in creation of UTF’s youth volunteer group ‘Green Force’. After completing his graduation in Master of Social Work from Amity University, Chander has been dedicatedly involved in UTF’s mission. His internships include Bachpan Bachao Andolan under Noble peace Prize Winner Shri Kailash Satyarthi. Chander originates from beautiful Chakrata region in Uttarakhand. His upbringing, strong values and belief system lead him to be integrally involved in efforts towards building a self reliant, self sustainable lives for the people of Uttarakhand. He spends his spare time growing organic vegetables and tree plantation.


Pavan Kala, Creative DesignerPavan Kala, Creative & Aesthetic

Pavan Kala is an innovative Fashion Designer who graduated from National Institute of Fashion Technology, India and has overseas experience in  top brands like Victoria Secret. Since his childhood, he found great inspiration in nature and its vast beauty. Having an experience of more than two decades in the fashion industry, he has developed a distinctive approach to designing which enabled him to look into the areas ranging from products to sustainable designing. When he took a u turn to his hometown Dehradun to set up his own venture, UTF became part of his endeavours. He firmly believes that beautification in all the areas of life can bring peace, harmony and prosperity.


Dhiraj Bisht I2I CinemakersDhiraj Bisht, Consultant (ABC project)

Dhiraj has more than 2 decades of experience in media, theatre and film production. He has been part of Times of India, Amir Raza Hussain theatre and Mira Nair’s project to name a few of his accomplishments. Currently he is focusing on his venture I2I Cinemaker and is one of the guiding force behind Any Body Project. Apart from his profession, Dhiraj has been an advocate of animal welfare for a long time. He believes that Yog and Cinema would play an important part in overall development of mankind. He also feels the need to address the shift in human-animal relationship due to loss of bio diversity in Himalayan region.


Akhilesh MalasiAkhilesh Malasi, Online Consultant

Akhilesh Malasi has been successfully running his website designing firm Emarkepedia since year 2009 at Dehradun. He is deeply connected with the causes undertaken by UTF to make a difference in Uttarakhand. Since UTF’s inception, he has been playing an important role in successful implementation of the foundation’s various endeavours. He is a strong advocate of preserving bio diversity of Doon valley and actively participates in the efforts to restore it. He likes spending his spare time in gardening and growing exotic fruits.



Deepanjli SharmaDeepanjli Sharma, Coordinator

She joined UTF in year 2012 as Office Assistant. Eversince she has been working tirelessly and due to her hard work and determination has become a valuable part of UTF. Currently she is workin efficiently as Office Coordinator. She is jovial person who is liked by all her collegues. Alongside working with UTF, she has completed her post graduation in Master of Social work. Her hobbies include music, traveling and reading.

Kanchan is working with UTF as project coordinator. She is positive, creative, self-motivated individual with great enthusiasm and determination to succeed. She demonstrates problem solving and natural coordination skills combined with the ability to prioritize a substantial workload. She has done her graduation in Bio-technology. Her interest lies in singing and dancing.
